GBT is a new Swiss innovation that has allowed the dental hygiene profession to transfer the patient experience by exchanging traditional methods for a revolutionary system for a pain free and fear free atmosphere for all ages. As you know, our teeth are covered in a sticky and colorless film made up of bacteria known as biofilm. Biofilm is the etiology to disease and if not removed successfully, can contribute to dental caries and gum disease long term. GBT uses air flow technology to remove all biofilm using a antibacterial powder in the mouth which can penetrate 4mm under the gum for a healthier clean preventing against tooth decay and gum disease . It is highly effective and minimally invasive to tooth structure -perfect for kids, adults with implants, orthodontics, exposed dentin and even heavy stains. That’s why we are excited to offer it.
It is vastly superior to conventional biofilm removal with traditional hand or power instrumentation making it gentler by preserving healthy tooth structure. NO MORE YUCKY GRITTY POLISH ANYMORE. Assess
You’re unique! As usual, your hygienist will take a look at the current situation of your oral cavity. From here, you are disclosed with a special dye which gives us a road map of areas that are missed with your home care routine.
Expose
The purple dye will highlight problem areas inside your mouth and your hygienist will let you know which places to be aware of for the next time you brush and floss at home! From here, your hygienist will educate you on tips and tricks on how to get those areas cleaner for your next visit using different tools and techniques.
Technology
Special technology is included in this therapy and is systemized to get rid of the purple biofilm in your mouth. We begin with the Airflow using a antibacterial erythritol powder to remove biofilm, stains, and young calculus on natural teeth, restorations, and implants. It cleans and polishes in one single procedure. If a deeper clean is needed, we move to the “pain free” Piezon ultrasonic to remove hardened deposits.
AIRFLOW
With the Airflow, a really fine powder is sprayed (like a power wash) to eliminate the aforementioned biofilm. Why the powder?
a) It reaches the hard to get places, especially around brackets, implants, in between teeth, subgingival (tooth-gum pockets) up to 4mm
b) It’s minimally invasive - instead of using manual methods to remove any biofilm, especially around the dentin (the sensitive part of the tooth by the gums), the fine powder is less invasive meaning more comfort and less pain.
c) It polishes at the same time with less abrasion than even low-abrasive paste. Polishing paste causes micro-abrasions on the enamel when the whole point is trying to save your teeth. The powder cleans and polishes maximizing efficiency at the clinic!
